Discover the secrets to existence in this point-and-click adventure
Elroy and the Aliens is an adventure game developed by Motiviti for PC. Set in 1993, this experience delves into the world of Elroy, who sets out on a journey with an investigative reporter named Peggie to find his long-lost father and uncover the mystery of his disappearance.
With its point-and-click and interactive fiction mechanics, Elroy and the Aliens delivers a heartwarming story-driven experience that relies on the players' choices to determine the conclusion from a multitude of possible endings. It is rendered in hand-drawn 2D graphics and explores sci-fi, mystery, and investigative themes.
Find Elroy’s long-lost father
The story of Elroy and the Aliens follows Elroy, a rocket engineer, and Peggie, an investigative reporter with an aptitude for languages, history, and research, who stumbles upon a hidden relic with a cryptic message containing clues of his father’s disappearance, that sends them from Slope City, their hometown, to the cosmos. Together, they explore to find Elroy’s father while unraveling the universe's secrets.
In this alternate 1990s version of existence, the cosmos is full of intelligent robots, strange phenomena, alien life, extraterrestrial languages, and heart-tugging moments. Challenging puzzles are laid out, waiting to be solved to unfold mysterious ancient legends. However, though the game is set in a different reality, it contains pop culture references to pull players in and connect with its audiences.
With its dual-character system, players can experience the story from multiple perspectives across two planets, 60 locations, and 60 characters. The best thing about this is the characters are fully voiced while the journey is accompanied by an original music score, making the experience immersive. However, the save system could use improvement, as it often shows mismatched chapter names that don’t reflect the actual save point.
Heartfelt journey
Elroy and the Aliens is a heartfelt, story-rich adventure that blends sci-fi mystery with nostalgic charm. Its dual-character system, hand-drawn visuals, and fully voiced cast create a deeply immersive experience, while player choices shape the journey across an imaginative universe. Despite its clunky save system, the game’s emotional core, clever puzzles, and engaging narrative make it a standout title for fans of interactive fiction and classic point-and-click adventures.
